* When I was ten years old my parents bought me an ABC-TV (UK) outside broadcast van and links vehicle (Dinky toys)* Ten years later I was directing cricket for ABC-TV (Australia) in Sydney in a very similar outside broadcast van that had been used on the Melbourne Olympic Games* Twenty years later I was back at the ABC as the federal executive responsible for television production resources which included the outside broadcast fleet across Australia* Ten years after that I was in Athens involved in planning for the largest deployment of outside broadcast vehicles in history - the 2004 Olympic Games* Ten years later I built and operated my own two-camera outside broadcast unit in Adelaide* (PS I still have the Dinky toys!)
