Ceilidh Joan Henderson Email and Phone Number
Ceilidh joined Altynay in 2016, and they formed the law firm TESHEBAEVA HENDERSON. She has focused her practice on family law ever since. Before starting her own practice, she gained knowledge and experience about family court procedures while working at the Family Duty Counsel Office in the Ottawa Courthouse. She has successfully litigated multiple motions and trials at the Superior Court of Justice and appeared at the Supreme Court of Canada as an intervener. In addition to her practice, Ceilidh is an active member of the Ontario Bar Association YLD-Executive committee and regularly contributes to the OBA Insider magazine. She enjoys mentoring students and has judged negotiation competitions at the law school. Prior to establishing her law practice, Ceilidh worked as an instructor in adult alternative high schools helping and teaching people with mental health issues about healthy living and positive lifestyle choices. Her work with families and children ground her understanding pertaining to the importance of giving quality advice to client’s reorganizing their family life post-separation. Ceilidh also took youth at risk on week-long canoe trips in remote parts of Northern Ontario. Ceilidh’s experience working with adults and youth with complex needs allowed her to build strong problem-solving, communication, and advocacy skills. Fundraising and donating to charity through The Children’s Aid Foundation and Lawyers Feed the Hungry are important to her. She’s performed stand up comedy for fundraising events; Laugh for the Cure (The Ottawa Cancer Foundation), Good Laughs (The Michael Garron Hospital Toronto), and Barrister’s for a Better Bytown. Ceilidh spends her free time paddling, skiing and watching/writing/performing comedy.
