About Ceilidh Higgins

Ceilidh’s speciality area is work – both the places we work and the ways in which we work. Her work as a workplace strategist combines her background in architecture with a career long focus in workplace design, and a passion for human centred design. Together with these and her experience in project management and business, she brings insight into the intersections of culture, psychology and well-being, green buildings, and technology. Ceilidh’s expertise spans both strategy and design, from education and commercial building refurbishment, through to the delivery of workplace projects for 5 people through to upwards of 1000 people. Her work has encompassed both workplace fitout and commercial base building refurbishment, giving Ceilidh an intimate understanding of both tenant and landlord perspectives and expectations.Ceilidh has led the design and delivery of significant office fit out and refurbishment projects for clients in private companies, government and the defence sector, as well education, laboratories, healthcare, and transport. Many projects she has led have been shortlisted for design awards whilst at the same time exceeding client expectations for functionality, budget and on-time delivery. Ceilidh researches, writes, speaks, and speculates on the future of work - both as a place and the processes of working within the AEC industry, and the impacts of technology upon both. You can find her well-read blog at The Midnight Lunch: The intersection of interior design, technology and the future of work. Ceilidh also contributes to industry websites including Parlour, the Association of Consulting Architects Australia and Workplace Insight. She is a regular speaker both in person and on webinars bringing together her ideas on the future of work, and new ways of living, learning and collaborating in the workplace.Ceilidh is also an enthusiastic advocate of flexible and dispersed ways of working, having been ahead of the curve for many years. Since 2017, she has successfully worked a 4 day flexible week whilst managing teams and major projects. Ceilidh is an active networker and contributor in the design and property industry. As an early adopter of Revit for interior design, Ceilidh become a well-known and sought after speaker both in Australia and internationally, presenting on topics related to technology and design. From 2016 through to 2023 she was a part of the BILT ANZ organising committee where she contributed to growing both the size and the diversity of the event.
