Growing up I experienced many situations where my family's health was at risk. They were constantly in and out of the hospital and it allowed me to see a glimpse of the healthcare system. I was inspired by the nurses that were empowered with the ability to heal others with compassion, and care. I was able to travel to Santa Rosalía in 2018 with a student exchange program from my high school. I had the opportunity to stay with a fully Spanish speaking family, and experience what life was like in Baja California. This experience allowed me to witness the different cultures in Mexico and lack of healthcare in lower income areas around the world. I was able to immerse myself in a different area I was not familiar with while also exposing myself to new languages and cultures. Not everyone is fortunate to experience high quality healthcare and I want to be able to change that. I want to be able to bring healthcare access to lower income communities and bring them comfort by educating myself with the skills and knowledge of a Registered Nurse. I take pride in every encounter I have with my patients and I make sure my interaction with each of them makes a positive impact on their day.
