I’m an experienced laboratory professional with a background in genetic and oncology testing. Having previous experience throughout multiple levels in the laboratory, I know the importance of great patient care and good lab practices. Being a self motivated, I’ve educated and driven myself to be a better person in and outside of the laboratory.My first post scholastic laboratory jobs were both on the entry level of the lab. My customer service experience prepared me to be in shipping and receiving, client services and test ordering departments of both Antech and EGL. I handled all aspects starting with receiving a variety of sample types through delivery and local couriers. Packages were then unboxed, sorted and I entered testing as well as delivered samples to the appropriate laboratory departments. Inbound calls were taken and outbound calls were made regarding appropriate testing, billing and results.When I started at CSI Laboratories I was trained in multiple laboratory duties and chromosome analysis, simultaneously. I excelled and soon started training new hires that came in after me. After I advanced to working physically in the laboratory, I was well equipped on the chain of custody for specimens which is very important in keeping proper documentation and being able to provide excellent patient care. After the first year,now a certified cytogenetic technologist, I was selected to join the tissue culturing team where we grew and maintained monolayer cell growth as well as collagenased tissue for suspension cultures. I later was tasked with checking quality, including secondary checks of received samples and patient information used to select stimulants used. I've held on to these duties throughout my time at CSI as well as being promoted to a tech 2.
