Children'S Librarian
Current• Conduct patron interviews to answer reference, media, and reader’s advisory inquiries.• Help patrons navigate the Library’s digital collections as well as provide assistance with the use of Library and patron owned computers, laptops, tablets, e-readers, and smart phones.• Perform collection development for print, media, and digital collections in the form of purchasing, weeding, and cataloging materials appropriate for patrons birth through 6th grade. Also provide collection development in the form of purchasing and weeding for the Adult Romance collection.• Build and manage content for the Kids World pages on the Library website.• Provide outreach to local schools and organizations including storytelling, storytimes, craft time, and classroom instruction on media literacy, conducting research, and navigating databases. Also answering and delivering teacher requests for classroom print and media materials.• Design and implement various children’s programming including weekly storytimes and STEAM based activities.• Design print resources such as pathfinders, storytime handouts, promotional and instructional guides for both children and caregivers.• Supervise Library volunteers. Conduct volunteer interviews and orientations as needed.• Supervise Kids World Pages and Tech Clerks when Manager is not present.• Serve as “Manager on Duty” for the Library as needed.
