As Labs Lead, I monitor and facilitate all the workings in the lab from quality control of our instruments, to ordering lab supplies, to managing the staff. As well as, run the numerous benches to process the samples we receive from our clients.

Assisting DEEP biologists in the field and laboratory with current and past studies on local fish populations.

For the Summer 2013 production season, produced millions of oyster, quahog, scallop and razor clam larvae and grew out oysters & scallops to field ready size for numerous restoration projects (Save the Bay, Oyster Gardening Program, Luther H. Blount Restoration Project). Managed student staff who assisted with the daily operations of the hatchery, as well as, oversaw all algae production. Also headed numerous field days at our off campus site on Prudence Island.

Maintained and performed regular culture transfers on Panamanian macroalgae for ongoing research. Taught new students proper lab duties and techniques. Assisted with molecular work (DNA extractions, PCR, etc) on numerous research projects. Recorded and analyzed data.

Responsibilities included: Assisting hatchery manager in all facets; managing the student staff and their schedules; fabricating and maintaining new and old systems; producing and executing numerous bivalve grant funded research and restoration programs; leading the field site team on Prudence Island; heading community outreach programs and running tours.

Oversaw gas pumps at dock. Greeted and assisted customers on and off the dock. Drove shuttle boat to and from dock to customers moorings. Assisted with daily boat and dock maintenance.
