During my 120-hour internship at The Courier Mail, I jumped into a range of newsroom tasks, helping journalists bring stories to life for print and online. Each day was unique—I attended press conferences and inquiries, recorded and transcribed interviews, took photos and video, and drafted article sections. I also got to work with the digital team, creating social media posts and drafting an advertorial article. This experience strengthened my news writing and pitching, boosted my confidence in interviewing, and allowed me to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced newsroom. I was grateful to form valuable connections with journalists and to see my work published, including bylines in both digital and print editions of the paper.

During this time, I worked at Mango Hill State School and Strathpine West State School in various administrative roles, including as a finance officer in charge of account payables.My responsibilities included:- Processing and tracking bills and payments for a school with over 1500 students and 100 staff.- Performing high level customer service to a tight knit community, while managing sensitive personal information. - Working collaboratively as part of a team, while also taking initiative and having the ability to work independently in a fast paced, high stress environment.

The 4ZZZ newsroom internship taught me many new skills and sparked my interest in broadcast journalism.My responsibilities included:- Sourcing and condensing important and relevant news stories (local, national and international) that will interest and impact the 4ZZZ audience.- Presenting news bulletins live on air at hourly intervals, ensuring to stay within strict timelines and remain professional at all times.
