Gorton Community Center is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization serving the communities of Lake Forest and Lake Bluff, Illinois. The Community Center is located in Lake Forest’s original K-12 schoolhouse, a building listed on the National Register of Historic Places, serving over 150 groups and non-profit organizations annually.During a difficult economic environment, consistently exceeded all goals and objectives. Served clients such as Abbott Laboratories, Coldwell Banker, Lake Forest College, Lake County Forest Preserve, Terlato Wine Group, Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital and Allendale Shelter Club.Some key accomplishments were: • Reduced total facility expenses by 9% ($24,000) over a three year period by choosing most cost effective vendors and decreasing maintenance staff responsibilities and hours;• Coordinated meetings for over 200 Abbott employees; • Organized and staffed receptions and events for over 300 people; and• Increased total rental space utilization by over 25%. • Increased annual rental income by $56,000 (61%) and total revenue by 15% by providing superior customer service and being recognized by clients as key contact;• Secured new local corporate clients, including Terlato Wine Group and Abbott Laboratories

Principal responsibilities included:• Coordination of all aspects of store operations, including management of deposits and cash receipts, security, customer service and merchandising; • Management of customer service and customer dispute resolution; and • Supervision of store personnel, including responsibility for interviewing, hiring, coaching and disciplinary oversight; leadership of staff meetings and coordination of local marketing decisions.

My primary responsibilities were classroom instruction, focused on at-risk students. • Responsible for instructing adult students of diverse ethnicity and learning styles in math and reading in preparation for GED/HSED; and • Served as a member of a multi-disciplined team focused on curriculum planning and student retention.
