Currently, I am a Regional Geomatics Officer with Crown Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC). I am the technical lead for ESRI Storymaps and the updating of stories for remediated sites in the North with a focus on accessibility for Canadians. My team works closely with teams across the Northwest Territories for map development as they relate to Devolution. My previous experience includes a GIS Analyst with Fisheries and Oceans Canada, where I was responsible for the development and application of spatial methods for ecological variables relating to fish and fish habitat in the Canadian Areas of Concern. These attributes are applied to a habitat ecological assessment tool to determine suitability for fish habitat based on guild and life stage. Final stages for data development include metadata summaries, ISO 19115 2003 and preparation for Open Maps. While with the Marine Environmental Data Sector team (MEDS), I worked with historical ocean water level data and quality controlled historical water level variables using SQL.For two fall sessions, I was the Advanced GIS Applications Instructor at Niagara College, where I incorporated a hybrid model, and fully in person of teaching for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) methods using QGIS. The class was based around developing methods to identify a location for critical bee habitat, collecting data using a total station and creation of a digital elevation model (DEM) and contours from field data. Students were also required to collect or create data applicable to extirpated species of plants in the Niagara region.
