The Children and Family Services Citizen Review Panel’s mission is to provide opportunities for citizens to assess the child welfare system and to make informed recommendations for continuous improvement that ensures the safety, permanence, and well-being of children, youth, and families within the state.

2024 Congressional Leadership Academy fellowship in Washington D.C. This program provides a 10-month leadership experience that connects youth with lived experience to decision makers and allows them to share their personal experiences to help shape legislation and policy recommendations specific to the National Foster Youth Institute's policy focuses for the year.

This is an opportunity for young leaders and adult partners, from all over the country, to use their personal experiences and voices to co-design with Youth MOVE National staff on youth-driven deliverables for our SAMHSA-funded Peer Center grant, as well as have opportunities for professional development.

Incoming Youth/Family Committee Chair

Working on the ACES AWARE initiative UCAAN in collaboration with UCLA and UCSF selected Youth and Youth Adult Advisors to help set up the Youth and Young Adult Council monthly meetings, attend Patient Advisor meetings, help review candidates, develop the program, set agendas, facilitating, and reviewing content including policies and procedures from the program.

Peer partner for SFA supporting TAY and the FSP TAY population. Collaborated in the hiring process and consulting on client cases.

Since April 2019, I have worked with the Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission’s (Commission) Youth Innovation Project and the Youth Innovation Project Planning Committee (YIPPC). From 2019-2022, YIPCC held three regional Innovation Labs engaging 11 counties that served as incubators for youth-generated innovative solutions focused on preventative mental health services in schools. As a way to continue supporting the implementation of these ideas, the YIPPC developed an interactive TOOLKIT to support youth and/or adult allies in increasing youth voice, engagement, and decision making in the planning and implementation of innovative ideas in their county or communities.

Apart of the pilot group for the Blaze Forward Fellows (BFF) program, a partnership with Our Children Our Family Council (OCOF), California Children's Trust (CCT), and Blaze Consulting Group. The fellowship is open to emerging and existing transitional age youth (TAY) leaders, ages 18-24. This fellowship will provide training, coaching and access to a suite of resources to help young, emerging leaders express their ideas, amplify their voice and move into action over the course of five (5) months. The program intent is to create pathways for and build the capacity of Transitional Age Youth (TAY) community members to address the social systems that impact their lives. Our communities are experiencing multiple forms of trauma including COVID-19 and Racial Battle Fatigue. While systems and agencies are responding, scores of decisions are being made without the input of those most affected. The Blaze Forward Fellows program will be a space for young people to think, act, and be heard.

Collaborated with SFA to create a Foster Youth Advisory Board which provides the opportunity for foster youth to dialogue with agency representatives, policy makers and government officials about reforms needed in the Foster Care Systems. The original model has been implemented by SFA company-wide across California (with plans to extend to Washington)
