This is the central message of the group that has formed in opposition to any proposal to bring casino gambling in any form to the neighborhood. Comprising a diverse cross-section of citizens from the historic neighborhood and beyond, No Eastie Casino has launched a grassroots opposition campaign to inform residents of all the ways a casino will affect their way of life.

East Boston is and has always been a joyful, creative, neighborly place to live, but it has also always been a community on the brink, pressed from every side by impacts such as Logan Airport, highways and tunnels, gas tank fields, and, now, large-scale development on our waterfront and at Suffolk Downs. Too often, powerful outside political and business forces rather than its fine residents have determined the course East Boston takes.
