About Celeste Blevins
In 2018, I relocated from the Southside of San Antonio, Texas to The University of Texas at Austin as a McCombs Success Scholar and member of the University Leadership Network. While experiencing the hardships of being a first-generation college student, I became deeply infatuated with the study of Sociology. For the first time in my life, I was learning about the systems of oppression that my family has been a part of for generations and how they shaped me and my life. This knowledge grew a desire in me to spread awareness about education, financial literacy, and future planning to minority and low-income individuals, especially children. I spent my time in the College of Liberal Arts learning to best connect with people of different ages, races, and incomes, and gained entrepreneurial skills from the McCombs School of Business that have equipped me to lead others with grace and gratitude. Throughout my years of studying, I accumulated countless experiences with people from around the globe, showing me just how beautiful and unique my story is and fueling me to share more about my life than how I managed to pay for a four-year university. I became inspired to own my title as an artist to express the passion I hold for my heritage, community, and future. Today, I tell stories through the pictures I paint, books I write, and words I speak. I strive to spark a vulnerable conversation with any person through everything I create. Excitement doesn't even scratch the surface of how thrilled I am to move forward as an advocate for change. My stories will change lives.
