I've spent the last 12 years working full-time as a Study Director and Senior Scientist for a Biotech company specialized in offering efficacy and toxicity assays using the zebrafish as model organism. Nowadays, I am the Study Director of different toxicity a assays and I lead internal I+D projects for the improvement of these assays. I've managed different projects for the development and validation of models for anti-cancer drug testing (angiogenesis and xenograft models in embryos, melanoma and hepatocellular carcinoma transgenic models in adults) and at present, I manage client-specific projects for the generation and characterization of neurodegenerative disease models in zebrafish embryos. An important part of this work, besides the project management, is to write final reports after finishing client studies, justifications and papers with the results of I+D activities and prepare presentations for scientific meetings. Besides gaining knowledge in different research areas, this work gives me the opportunity of leading a working group and collaborate with other internal departments and external collaborators or clients to achieve the company goals.About my scientific training, after earning my Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, I worked as a Research Fellow at the Hospital for Sick Children (Toronto, Canada) and in the Cancer Research Centre (Salamanca, Spain), for a total of five years and a half. During my scientific formation I have worked in different research topics and with different experimental models (including a variety of cell type cultures, C. elegans, Zebrafish and mice), what have given me a wide experience in many molecular biology, biochemistry and cell biology techniques.
