I have been a Drama, Media Studies, and English teacher at Kaiapoi High School since 2013, including taking on the role of pastoral Dean for two years. I love working as an educator and consider myself to be a strong leader who works well under pressure and encourages others to meet their potential. Supporting ākonga to be the best they can be is a strong motivator for me in all that I do. I am an inclusive and supportive colleague and kaiako who understands the dynamics of a team and works to ensure all are supported and given the opportunities to excel. Brief Overview of my Employment History and relevant experience:* Drama, Media Studies and English teacher at Kaiapoi High School (January 2013 - present)- Senior Drama - NCEA Assessments for performance, devising, directing, techniques and theatre form. - Junior Drama - created my own programmes to engage and retain students in the Drama classes. - Junior Media Studies - introduced genre studies and engaged students in making their own short films. - Senior Media Studies - NCEA assessments for readings, genre study, planning, making and analysing films to suit an audience. At the senior level, the course is divided into Journalism and Film studies. * Pastoral Dean of Rimu House, Kaiapoi High School, Christchurch (January 2017 - December 2018) - Provided leadership to 15 staff and 250 students with daily school activities andorganisation.- Supported students using the restorative system under the wider requirements ofHouse Pastoral care.* Stage Manager at the Court Theatre (January 2012 - January 2016)In this role I was working closely with other industry professionals to create and successfully perform professional standard theatre shows and experiences for audiences. * Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand - Young Shakespeare Company 2007. Mine was one of the 30 names selected from regional festivals for the NSSP in 2006 and trained and performed Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. I was further selected to travel to London in 2007 to work under Director Patrick Spottiswoode at the Globe Theatre. This was a highlight of my secondary school performances and it has led to my drive to share my passion for Shakespeare with my Drama students.
