I have an enthusiasm for learning all kinds of things. For the past ten years, I have worked professionally as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist for the Blind and Visually Impaired while also being a co-owner of a small farm business. Before that, I was a teacher at the elementary school level for twelve years and loved it. Recently I have become interested in writing and have always been an excellent proofreader. Since July 2020, I have taken five online classes in the subject of writing, which include Write and Publish Your Nonfiction Book, Travel Writing, Writerific: Creativity Training for Writers, and Writing for Children. I am continuously taking online classes to earn teaching CEUs and expand other professional interests, and I am also working on a book to tell the story of my Deer, Annie, with the intent to self-publish. As of December 2022, I have completed a 168-hour, level 5 course with TEFL.org to teach English as a foreign language. I am presently addicted to practicing my Spanish on Duolingo. I am proud to share that throughout my professional career, so far, I have been given statewide awards for my achievements in both Florida and North Carolina. In addition, when I served as an elected City Council member, I was nominated for The Profile in Courage award from the JFK Presidential Library. So, on the eve of my retirement from my present profession, but not wanting to leave the working world entirely, I am expanding my interests and education to pursue other interests in a professional realm.
