- Stealth Startup - Responsible for the entire design and implementation of the backend for a culture-rich web application for a startup in stealth mode. Technologies: Django, Python, Django REST Framework, RESTful APIs, PostgreSQL, MySQL, OAuth2, Git, GitHub, Bitbucket, Heroku, CloudAMQP, MemCachier, Amazon S3, apiary.io, Atlassian Jira Agile Development.- Open-Source Projects - Developed an open-source RESTful API in Django/Python for user signup and authentication. Accessible from a variety of front ends, including Django, React, AngularJS, and iOS/Android mobile apps.- Mentor at a hardware hackathon.

While raising our children, immersed myself in a number of technical projects; a fraction of which are included here. Also taught myself Django and the Django REST Framework. Continually building on my knowledge and writing open-source software.- Designed and programmed a web application to increase the quality of movies our family watches. Extracted information from The Movie Database (TMDB) and Rotten Tomatoes APIs. Stored data in a MySQL database. Developed open-source wrappers in Python for the TMDB and Rotten Tomatoes APIs. Enhancing the application for commercialization.- Programmed an Arduino microcontroller and assembled custom electronics to command a 4-DOF kit robot with a PS2 controller.- Built a wooden 24-foot half-pipe from scratch with my sons.- Designed and programmed an iPhone application in Objective-C for my son’s basketball team, which included the team roster, photos, game schedule map access, and other hyper-linked information. Distributed to parents via Ad Hoc distribution to maintain player privacy.- Played a major role in the design and construction of our new house. Created a 30-page specification to guide the architect. Thoroughly reviewed the structural design and construction details. Designed and incorporated many of my novel design features.- Acted as general contractor and managing member of an LLC for the installation of a one-half mile sewer line along a major public road in Portola Valley. Interviewed, hired, negotiated with, and supervised all subcontractors. Worked with the town and other public agencies.- Designed and programmed software that scraped Multiple Listing Service (MLS) data off the web and emailed new and changed listings.- Designed and constructed a custom wooden swing set and multilevel fort.

- We won the DARPA Grand Challenge and $2M for Stanford University- Worked with Sebastian Thrun and the rest of the Stanford Racing Team on Stanley, the autonomous vehicle we entered into the DARPA Grand Challenge (an off-road driverless vehicle race traversing 132 miles)- Led and managed the Testing Group- Our mission: bring Stanley to perfection- Developed and implemented a testing plan, designed to maximize vehicle robustness and test foreseeable race conditions- Constructed test scenarios at desert test sites and rode in the vehicle while driverless
