I designed and produced a bra for those of us who don't want our bra straps to show.Growing up in a small midwestern town, I never fit in. My hair was always unfashionably short. My clothes were never trendy. I knew I wasn’t in the right place and that I’d figure it out – eventually.My year-long study abroad in Luxembourg was a life-changing experience. I was exposed to a whole new world. It was exciting, but daunting because I still had no clue what I wanted to do. I worked in corporate jobs in Chicago and San Francisco for a few years after college. The only thing I knew was that I wanted to get back to Europe, so with $400, I decided to move to Paris for a year. Eureka! It turns out I was a cosmopolitan city girl. That year in France has lasted 33 years…and counting! Contrary to what those school aptitude tests said, I’m an entrepreneur! I have 2 patents (both co awarded with a daughter), several business plans in various stages of development, and a dozen new ideas every week.I love dance – in particular Nederlands Dans Theater, Malandain Ballet Biarritz, Ballet Preljocaj, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and choreographers Crystal Pite and William Forsythe. I could happily see a live dance performance or musical every day. I admire the genius designs of Iris Van Herpen and Issy Miyake.All the things that made me unpopular as a tween and teen – from my short hair to my irreverent sense of humor – have helped make me the resourceful optimist I am today.
