For a majority of my working years, I worked primarily in customer service; Tim Hortons, Coffee Culture and Dollarama. I learned valuable communication skills and social etiquette from these positions. I regularly assisted customers in finding products suitable for them, as well as problem solving whenever I was presented with a conflict. One of my strengths I was known for was de-escalating situations. Listening is a key component in my communication technique. I also gained valuable experience at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home. This was my final placement in my nursing program. I learned a lot about infection control and prevention, health assessment, medication administration, wound care and general wellness of my clients. I was also fortunate enough to get first-hand experience with covid swabbing and health care teaching.Using my experience from my co-op placement, I became a covid-19 swab collection nurse with MediOneRx Travels. I worked at 3 of their in person clinics, as well as remotely on their virtual swabbing portal. This experience reinforced my WHMIS training, as well as the infection prevention and control practices I learned in Nursing School. Now I am seeking a job where I can further broaden my nursing skills and put my years of education to use.
