Resonance of Indonesia, PPI London’s flagship event, is an annual Indonesian performing arts festival held in London during the summer. The festival includes musical acts and other supporting live performances to celebrate Indonesia’s diverse culture. I mainly managed the recruitment of student performers and liaised with them on D-day.

For my fully-funded 6-week Laidlaw research project, I worked at UCL GOS ICH under Dr. Dagmar Alber’s group. The project mainly focuses on detecting antimicrobial resistance (AMR) genes in S. pneumoniae isolates using multiple PCR methods. This project is an extension of the LAKANA trial, a mass drug administration (MDA) program in Mali, West Africa, aimed at reducing the high child mortality rate. Despite the benefit of promoting survival, the MDA of antibiotics poses the risk of AMR developing in bacteria. In this project, I performed various experimental techniques, including bacterial culturing, DNA extraction, and qPCR. In addition, I performed extensive data analysis using MS Excel.
