The responsibility of the role is to develop proposals in response to tender enquiries (for multidisciplinary engineering projects, feasibility studies or FEED) from clients. The proposal is developed by collaborating closely with representatives/members of the various engineering disciplines, the commercial coordinator, the legal counsel, project sponsors and management to incorporate related input into the final submissions. The aim to ensure that final proposal report submissions are competitive from a pricing perspective while adhering to the technical requirements to complete the required engineering work in an efficient, cost and resource effective way.

I conducted a practical investigation into the feasibility of the process of pyrolysis as a method to recover high energy hydrocarbons from waste plastic in the form of fuel oil. The experimental method included the use of a Thermogravimetric Analyser (TGA) to pyrolyse the plastic samples at different heating rates and to monitor the volatiles content of the product matter. The volatiles content of each pyrolysed plastic sample was determined as a function of the time and the selected heating rate used in that experimental run. The experimental data was used to determine the overall efficiency and feasibility of using the process on an industrial scale.
