· ISO standardisation and applying GPS (Geometric Product Specifications) to legacy drawings within a large wind energy company to aid global sourcing of components. · Design and installation of lightning protection system within existing blades, utilising 3D, 2D & surface modelling within Unigraphics NX6.

Main focus· Developed and networked agency departments, playing a pivotal role in defining, creating and delivering advanced prototype solutions for future respiratory protection systems for UK & US funded research programs.· Management of R&D laboratory equipped with the latest design tools and manufacturing equipment.· Leading consultations with project managers and customers to define engineering problem, develop solution and deliver working mechanical prototype for rapid deployment.· Expert 3D modelling via Co-Create & Pro Engineer Wildfire 4 covering geometric modelling, complex surfacing, splines, rendering.· 3D scanning, converting STL output file to IGES & STEP models for manipulation via 3D modelling.· Developing rapid prototype models via uPrint Dimension & Z-Corp 3D printers for customer presentations, use as functional components, mould tool manufacture & machining jigs.· Utilising a vast range of materials such as silicon, polyurethane, ABS, brass, aluminium, PVC, polystyrene.· Sound knowledge of creating components and assemblies via machining, vacuum casting, vacuum forming, fabrication.Selected achievements· Advised UK armed forces on modifications required to redesign air conditioning unit to offer military personnel protection from chemical and biological threat.· Development of advanced respirator test head to reduce need for human subjects, saving 3-4 man hours per respirator trial.· Implemented Co-Create 3D modelling, 3D printing and 3D scanning to strengthen departments development resources, cut prototype development times and offer an advanced design service to customers.· Promoted to role by line manager due to my solid mechanical expertise.

Main focus· Total responsibility for the delivery of mechanical solutions for internal and external clients within an ISO 9000 accredited design office.· Conducting client consultations & feasibility studies to define and create Product Design Specifications.· Generating ideas through brainstorming & concept designs in teams & lone working.· Expert 3D modelling via Co-Create to develop complex and detailed mechanical solutions.· 2D technical drawings of components, assemblies, bill of materials and drawing list to ISO and DEF standards via Co-Create 2D drafting.· Selection & procurement of components & raw materials from suppliers such as fasteners, tooling, hardware.· Authorization to review and release new and re-issued technical drawings, bill of materials & drawing lists.· Sound knowledge of engineering materials such as stainless steel, aluminium, brass, delrin, PTFE.· Design for manufacture utilising many years milling, turning & fabrication experience.Selected achievements· Redesign of mould tool producing silicon elements used for body armour test rig, reducing de-mould time from 8 hours to 30 minutes.· Designed and built prototype animal enclosure to meet new EU animal welfare regulations. Client consultations led to 190 off units manufactured totalling £1M.· Spearheading the re-development of a rig for testing the permeability of clothing materials used for military applications. Eliminated exposure to operators of hazardous chemicals and corrosion to rig components, and increased the repeatability of results.· Introduced PDM system for 3D and 2D data, offering superior document control and reduced production times for technical drawings and bill of materials.

Management of three personnel within an ISO 9000 accredited manufacturing centre. Implemented machine training, motivated staff and scheduled milling, turning and light fabrication tasks.

Translating 2D drawings into machined and sheet metal components within an ISO 9000 accredited manufacturing centre, reducing manufacturing times by 10%. Excellent knowledge of working with a range of materials from plastics to metals.
