FURB (University of Blumenau) maintains several research and development projects with traditional development agencies in Brazil, as well as applied research aimed at solving current industry sector problems.My main challenges are to participate in multidisciplinary projects in partnership with Petrobras to solve problems in the oil refining industry, where my activities are:• Develop part of the research project.• Assist new engineers and students in training as researchers and CFD engineers.• Coordinate and guide part of the team, execution, and alignment of the project and some of the industrial applications.• Perform experimental evaluation of gas-liquid multiphase flow in piping and heat exchanger.• Evaluate by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) of gas-liquid multiphase flow in a piping, heat exchanger, and industrial-scale boiler, evaluation of vibration frequencies in large-scale boilers, mixers, fluidized bed, etc• Evaluation of dynamics in multiple “boiler type” heat exchanger tubes with evaporation.• Proposals for improvements in pilot and industrial-scale equipment evaluated.• Monitoring of other ongoing projects in the laboratory.

My main challenge is participating in a project in partnership with Petrobras as a researcher (UNICAMP - FURB - Petrobras). This project refers to a gas distributor that fluidizes the catalyst bed, gas-solid jets. Where my activities are:• Analyze the validity of current models compared to experimental data.• Analyze the interference of a multi-injection and fluidized bed system via computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) with the Kinetic Theory of Granular flow-based two-fluid models.• CFD analysis of Gas-solid catalyst fragmentation in fluidized catalytic bed with adaptive mesh• Assist new engineers and students in training as researchers and CFD engineers.

As part of Petrobras' development and improvement units for new technologies, Petrobras' research units located in São Mateus do Sul support the development of technologies used in oil refining in Brazil, containing pilot scale units with equipment over 30 m high. I worked as a CFD engineer for two outsourced companies (Fundação Gorceix (Sep / 2006 to Aug / 2011 and Possebon Engenharia (Sep / 2011 to Jul / 2015))As a CFD engineer, it was my role to integrate the fluid dynamics group with other chemical and mechanical engineers doing the experimental work. My activities were to develop a complete framework for CFD (Receive and evaluate the objectives of the CFD analysis with the requesting customers, build geometry, mesh, simulation, and post-processing) I used several physics to analyze the performance of the equipment, and look for solutions to problems with industrial equipment, always with models validated with industrial data from the experimental units (efficiency, pressure, PIV, and LDA). The equipment and projects evaluated were small, medium, and large scale. Some of the physics I evaluated were: Gas-solid analysis in cyclones and multi-cyclones for FCC riser and regenerator, mono, two and three-phase flow in hydro cyclones, evaluation of conventional and low-NOx burners in industrial boilers and furnaces, combustion, fluid dynamics analysis in different tank sizes, flow in urea granulation tower, fluidized bed, gas distribution manifold in moving bed reactor. With single-phase and multiphase flows such as gas-solid (powder catalyst), gas-liquid, liquid-liquid, and liquid-liquid-gas, different sizes of tanks, slug flow in pilot and industrial scales, hydrocyclones, etc.Installation of CFD programs and configuration of High-Performance Computing (HPC) for modeling and simulation of programs. Access to other Windows and Linux HPC for running remote simulations. Main tools used: Ansys CFX, fluent, ICEM CFD, EnSight, DesignModeler, Ansys Mesh.
