Engineer Scientist Ii
External Contractor
The work developed under this contract has been the development and implementation of enhancements to the power conversion PVSystem and Storage and to the control elements InvControl and StorageController OpenDSS models.
Engineering Consultant
I was a part of the team that developed a software tool in Python to perform technical losses calculation in electrical distribution systems according to the methodology defined by the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL). The developed tool is at the core of SigPerdas, a software developed and maintained by Sinapsis.
Research Assistant
As a research assistant at NAPREI, I have been involved in two main projects. The first one was the development of a methodology for electric distribution systems inspection scheduling based on corporate systems data such as GIS, OMS and SCADA measurements and availability of field inspection teams. The methodology has been implemented as a separate module to a common planning tool in Brazil. The results of this research have been published in IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery. The second project was the development of a tool to integrate OpenDSS-G into NAPREI`s smart grid laboratory framework as an optional distribution system simulator.
External Contractor
I have been involved in several efforts as an EPRI external contractor during 2017, such as the development of OpenDSS basic tutorial videos (released in YouTube), the creation of OpenDSS feeder models from power flow and short-circuit data (from EPRI DRIVE tool files), the investigation of combined operation of different smart inverter functions to improve the performance of electrical distribution systems, the co-creation of the Brazilian OpenDSS users group to provide OpenDSS support for the Brazilian community and the development of a case study on the application of distributed energy storage in providing system level voltage and power factor support.
Student Intern
During my internship I worked at EPRI's Power System Studies Group, in which I had the opportunity to be involved in tasks that gave me experience with actual utility distribution system problems, including the following:- Participation in a work to determine the best single-phase model of the North American residential service transformer and cables. A paper has been published on 2017 IEEE Rural Electric Power Conference (REPC)- Revision of data converted from the CYME software to the OpenDSS format- Interpretation of circuit maps to make a model of the power system supplying a US university- Help support OpenDSS software- Investigation of possible bugs in OpenDSS storage model- Calculation of transformer thermal response under different loadings
Intern
Familiarization to OpenDSS software through Python Programming Language for controlling, technical losses calculation and graphical viewing of electrical parameters
Summer Intern At Laboratory For Power Management And Integrated Switch-Mode Power Supplies (Smps)
Implementation of a Dual Mode Control System for a Transformerless Dual Active Bridge Converter for Point of Load Application
