About Dr. Cem Haydaroglu
Cem is an Associate Structural Engineer and has a PhD degree in structural engineering.Cem has experience in variety of steel, timber and RC construction design, from analyses to final connections in accordance with international design codes such as Turkish Codes (Turkish Seismic Code, TS648, TS500, Turkish Steel Design Code), US Codes (LRFD, ASD, ACI 318, AWS D1.1, NDS) and Eurocodes.Cem is proficient in design of complex large-scale buildings e.g. airport terminals, shopping malls, industrial buildings, and aviation structures e.g. helipads. Particularly, he is expert in structural steel design, also subjects of vehicle / pedestrian bridges, crane girders, retaining walls, vibration phenomena of steel floors, fire protection, and composite structures. He has his own initiative to make decisions, and holds well communication and awareness skills with other disciplines and clients.Cem is an active member of TK-13 Seismic Design Committee in TUCSA (Turkish Association of Constructional Steelworks).Cem is also a part-time lecturer in Istanbul Bilgi University, and Yeditepe University. He teaches compulsory “Statics”, “Strength of Materials”, and “Computer Applications in CE” courses to architecture and civil engineering students. He is also a researcher on the subject of “Improving cyclic performance of steel tube braces using advanced composites”. He is also a researcher on the topic of “Improving cyclic performance of steel tube braces using advanced composites”. Cem is interested in experimental methods in earthquake engineering, blast effects on structures, robustness in design and base isolation.
