My role as a service manager required that I take the skills that I learned as a direct support staff along with developing leadership skills in order to provide support to staff and clients. As a manager I helped recruit, supervise, train, and evaluate 10 direct support staff. There was a lot of interaction with the general public through classes that I taught at San Francisco Public Library. These classes integrated our client population with members of the community. Along with these classes, I maintained relationships with outside agencies to create a support network for clients.The day to day administrative tasks included maintaining salesforce database of client and shareholder information, updating spread sheets tracking client progress and attendance. Provide guidance for staff in writing and implementing client centered program plans to achieve desired outcomes. I also oversaw the specialized services for clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

My main goal was to help my clients be more independent and give them the tools to learn even when I was not present. Being a DSP required noticing barriers to learning and creating and implementing plans to help the clients over come them. These plans required careful, thorough, and timely documentation and communication with families, case managers, employers and service managers.
