My previous role was an Activities Co-ordinator within Mental health and had been doing so for nearly four years. Within my role I have a had a lot of responsibility and feel I have worked beyond my job description in many areas.I was a liked member of our work team and feel I am the agony aunt of the home. I'm approachable and very welcoming. I had to have a good relationships with our residents and I am normally a first point of call for them with their problems or issues. I have dealt with banking queries, mental health capacity assessments, dealing with outside agencies such as solicitors, money and have sat in a number of meeting with psychologists and doctors. This gives me a wide understanding of how an effective and successful business is run.I have also organised successful open days, competitions, tea and talk sessions within the care homes. I was also in charge of booking acts and performers to visit the care homes. For this I had to work off a budget and negotiate prices. I have always had a major interest in the creativity within the community, especially working with groups of people with varied needs. Through my part-time job as a drama and music tutor, I was responsible for establishing a relationship with adults with learning difficulties and enduring mental health issues including dementia. I therefore have a strong understanding of how to approach certain situations, reading the moods of groups and to be observant with reading and using body language. Furthermore, in my role as an Activities co-ordinator I have had to build links within the local community and with businesses. On a day to day basis I co-led with the nurse in charge, a group of support staff. This means I have had experience with leading a group, working as a team and dealing with any queries they may have.To add to my job role as a Music and Drama tutor, I had the responsibility of creating and organising shows. I directed the shows as well as the venue, sound, music and food. I feel I have a lot of experience around events organising and being creative when selling a product. I had a budget to work with and was placed in charge of the whole creative process from beginning to end. I have excellent communication skills gained from my job experience and my training within my course at university. This helped me to become a confident speaker and performer. This will help as I will be able to communicate with any team member within your organisation. I am organised, punctual and I strive to complete any challenge set for me to the best standard possible.
