Research themes are as far reaching as cancer, bowel disease, arthritis, and kidney disease, with the interlinking theme being the interaction of cells with their immediate environment within the human body. I work alongside the 120 researchers in the Centre to translate current research into a whole host of public programmes and events, from school visits, lectures, exhibitions and online content. We also have an adult programme to complement our well-established and vibrant schools programme. Activity DeveloperThe Francis Crick Institute Mar 2016 - Nov 2016Working with the Public Engagement Team at The Francis Crick Institute, I started this project by carrying out a review of the current public engagement activities and then a consultation with the public engagement team and researchers to identify key research messages and translate these into activities suitable for a family and adult audience. The overarching goal was to excite and enthuse the public about the groundbreaking research happening at the Crick Institute. Over the course of the project, I designed, developed, piloted and refined a suite of activities based on key research priorities for the Crick Institute and then trained the public engagement team on the delivery of the activities. The venues and events to which these activities were taken include Imperial Science Festival, The Wellcome Collection and New Scientist Live. -
