Public Programmes Manager
Public Programmes Team, Nowgen Centre, Manchester
Grafton St, Manchester
I spent 12 months seconded to the Public Programmes Team at the Nowgen Centre, Manchester, as the Public Programmes Manager. I worked with researchers and clinicians from across the University of Manchester and the Central Manchester Foundation Trust to design, produce and deliver creative and innovative engagement projects with all aspects of biomedicine. Highlights of my secondment include designing and delivering ‘Joints and Genes’, an exploratory look at how genetic affects our risks and prognosis for diseases like arthritis. This event was hosted at the Museum of Science and Industry, as part of their programme of Platform for Investigation events, in April 2015. A version of this was also run later in 2015 as part of European Researchers Night at the Manchester Museum in September 2015. https://storify.com/CMFT_Research/joints-and-genes‘The Nest’ is a bespoke drama, examining the opinion-dividing topic of sharing health data records, working with researchers from the NIHR Greater Manchester Primary Care Safety Translational Research Centre (GM PSTRC). ‘The Nest’ focussed on the Centre’s Interface and Informatics theme, which works to develop digital information systems capturing routine healthcare data for better understanding of patient safety and to facilitate quality improvement in primary care. https://storify.com/GM_PSTRC/the-nest
