An able, respected and experienced leader and passionate modern linguist, in recent years I have spoken at the Welsh Assembly in Cardiff, the House of Lords in London and the European Commission in Brussels. I have worked with a huge range of partner organisations including the British Council, British Academy, Goethe Institut, Institut Français, Confucius Institute, HEFCW, the Welsh Government, CILT and WJEC, to name but a few. I was instrumental in establishing CILT Cymru, the National Centre for Languages in Wales, which enjoys an excellent reputation for the quality of its work with schools and local authorities. I have met Welsh Ministers of Education and other key policy makers in order to make the case for strengthened support for MFL. A regular contributor to TV and radio programmes, I recently had an item published in The Guardian.
