My background includes a B.Sc. degree in Zoology from Cardiff University where I was awarded the 2009 W. M. Tattershall Exhibition prize by Professor J. Harwood. I undertook a professional training year at Birmingham Wildlife and Conservation Park where I learnt much about the husbandry of many exotic and endangered species. One module was spent studying Tropical Marine Ecology on the island of Tobago. My passion for travel has led me to experience many unique cultures and ecosystems including treks through the rainforests of Costa Rica, staying with local hill tribes in Thailand, amongst many others.I have taught in both the state and independent sector. My first teaching post was at Afon Tâf High School as a Teacher of Science and KS3 Form Tutor. I also accepted the role of Literacy and ICT Coordinator. I have taken a proactive role in my professional development, which has included the completion of a master’s degree in Education, specialising in Leadership and Management.During my time teaching at Howell’s School as a Teacher of Biology and KS5 Form Tutor, which included being a part of the Year 12 UCAS team, I also had the responsibility of being the school’s Science Coordinator. This role included writing assessments, creating teaching resources, bridging the transition from KS2 to KS3, managing the Virtual Learning Environment for the department (Firefly), and curriculum management. I have also been an Account Manager with sQuidcard where I managed close relationships with Swansea Council and Shire Services to deliver cashless solutions to dinner money and trip payments for their schools. I have also been a Training & Consultancy Manager for WCBS where I lead a team of consultants in delivering MIS solutions to private and international schools, which included international travel. This has allowed me to gain unique insight into how different national and international schools operate at all levels. I have been heavily involved in successful organisation-wide policies and procedures. These roles involved working closely with catering staff, administrators, teachers, business managers, senior leadership teams, and parents in a vast array of UK and international schools.I have been a Head of Physics with Interhigh, which is the UK’s largest online school, managing a large and varied department. The role has allowed me to become extremely proficient in online training, teaching, and the management of virtual learning environments. I have recently completed a level 4 Teaching Online course specialising in online training and education.
