We build websites for businesses and publishers based on the the Drupal platform, specialising in personalisation. We also consult on deployment best practices, promoting the DevOps principles. Currently using puppet to manage cluster of Linux servers. On a HA NAS project, using pacemaker, corosync, multipath, iscsi, shared SAN.Previously responsible for deployment and maintenance of 15+ Sun Solaris servers and their virtualisation - many Solaris Containers / Zones running on them. I also built and have maintained a NAS (ZFS, NFS) used by many projects. This infrastructure is used by a team of 100+ J2EE developers and testers.Aside of sysadmin tasks, I also develop Ant scripts and create java builds – solaris packages of many java projects which are used on Bigpond customer facing servers.That includes configuration and packaging of JBoss and Tomcat.This contract has been my ideal opportunity to improve my Solaris skills and knowledge of Sun technologies and get familiar with JBoss and Tomcat servers. I have installed and administered several dozen production Linux servers (Debian, RedHat, Centos) and their services (e.g. Apache, PHP, MySQL, Postgres, qmail, NFS, DNS) – I have worked on all common ISP open-source technologies. I led several enterprise level projects, including new infrastructure deployment.I was responsible for service monitoring (NMIS, Rancid, Nagios, SNMP) and server and service security, firewalls, DMZ and security updates.I administer several database servers, mostly EnterpriseDB (chosen for its compatibility with Oracle), and MySQL.One of my major enterprise level task consisted of setting up IBM blade centers with full service replication and automatic failover – High Availability. I programmed specialised data input modules for CDM software for Bombardier Canada in Montreal. My main work consisted of SGML/XML data processing of data stored in Oracle databases. I also created analyses and work estimates for the Lufthansa Technik AG Company – an Oracle and JSP Intranet application for aircraft services planning. My additional duties included Java troubleshooting, Oracle database installation and administration, as well as various server and software installations.From July 2003 to April 2004 I worked on site at Bombardier Aerospace in Canada, with focus on aircraft manuals SGML data processing using Omnimark and Tcl programming languages in Unix/Linux and Oracle environments. Full time positionAfter extensive work in SQL programming for stock brokerage applications I specialised in Client/Server applications processing real-time large volume stock market data streams (C, C++, TCP/IP, Shell Scripts, PHP, Perl, Sybase, MySQL, XML). I wrote numerous HTML parsing and data downloading programs for internal use. I coded applications under both FreeBSD and MS Windows NT operating systems. Contract workI wrote a commercially used Internet e-mail gateway module for FAXCHANGE – a popular commercial extension of MS Exchange (I used this module later as part of my Masters thesis). I coded the module in Microsoft Visual C++ and MFC as strongly object-oriented. I programmed Socket classes implementing POP3 a SMTP clients and a MIME class – following RFC documentation.Used technologies: Microsoft Visual Developer Studio, MFC, OOP, TCP/IP sockets, SMTP, POP3, MIME.
