Began as a nanny for two children ages 3 years old and 23 months. I encouraged both children to play while using appropriate moments for teaching problem-solving, social-emotional development, and accommodating to physical and wellness needs. Additionally I incorporated activities in language and literacy (e.g., reading books, and asking/answering questions related to comprehension of any given text, and letter identification); STEAM (e.g., building using various toys, creative expression with art materials, music, and dramatic play, music, and doing basic math such as counting and addition); sensory (e.g., playdough).By the end of the experience, both children, then ages five- and four-years-old, I had created a curriculum based on the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks in areas such as ELA, math, science, social studies, and art. Formative and quarterly assessments are used to drive instruction based on each child's needs and abilities. Additionally, we often practice activities that involve techniques to regulate emotions and develop strong interpersonal relationship skills.
