During a professional leave, assisted loved ones with aging in place and maintaining healthcare needs.To keep my analytical mind challenged, I took several workshops, attended a few classes and a conference. After familiarizing myself with WordPress and Google Ads, was also consulted about and tasked with developing a web presence for a new growing company. Volunteer work also allowed me to feel connected to the greater good.

I led the information technology efforts and front office operations for the Department of Pathology, overseeing systems and managing resources for technical and customer support. I ensured compliance with regulatory agencies, developing protocols and managing inspection processes and promoted a culture of continuous improvement, providing subject matter expertise with cross-functional internal teams to improve accessibility, safety and viability of workflows and systems. I managed inventories for digitized media, glass slides and documentation, and coached and developed a team of 4 support associates.My successes included:• Leading compliance with the Federal ICD-10 coding upgrade, developing training, testing and cross-functional coordination to ensure a seamless transition for case coding and technical and professional charges throughout all stages of processing.• Spearheading a workflow rotation process and established team meetings to enable consistent distribution of work and greater employee ownership and input, while reducing turnaround time for consult case administration by 50%.• Designing a hybrid specimen and material tracking system, managing vendors and internal resources to create a comprehensive solution for reducing errors and improving efficiency.

I managed information systems as a dedicated support service for the Pathology department. I acted as subject matter expert for Pathology processes and data, and maintained essential communication with the Information Services team, developing strategic plans for existing and future technology platforms. I ensured resources were available to provide consistent, on-demand support and oversaw system upgrades, facilitating interoperability with the EHR, ancillary systems and data warehouses. I directed initiatives to research and identify new technologies, partnering with external vendors to design and implement customized programs to enhance workflow and improve productivity. Hired, trained and mentored 3 application specialists to support expansion of Pathology IT needs and department responsibilities.My achievements included: • Developing and delivering IT onboarding and training processes for new employees and physician trainees, providing consistency in understanding and greater facility of use with Pathology information systems.• Implementing a custom high-definition video capture and conferencing system for Cardiac Registry education initiatives, enabling detailed demonstrations for in-person and remote participants and development of instructional videos.• Creating a SharePoint site to enable better document control, security, accessibility and organization across the department.

I provided dedicated support for the Pathology laboratory information system, data processes and analysis. I managed projects and handled vendor relationships, and researched, designed and implemented training for new department technologies. Provided data analysis and reporting to support QA initiatives. My successes included:• Implementing a VoiceBrook speech recognition system to support gross and diagnostic dictation for full-time technical and medical staff, and rotating physicians.• Implementing a digital microscopy and audioconferencing system to enable remote participation in case reviews. • Acting as technology subject matter expert on the creation of a Biorepository application for capturing Pathology specimen data in real-time and enabling storage for research studies.

I provided comprehensive applications support for over 20 clinical departments, responding to user needs in on-call and real time settings. I maintained internally built dictation and clinical documentation systems using Toad and SQL and responded to institutional needs with ongoing reference data updates, system upgrade QA, data extraction and manipulation.My achievements in this role included:• Being a key member of the project team in implementing a multi-year lab migration from Cerner Classic to Millennium, including 70% of the medical device interfaces.• Collaborating with Nursing, clinical labs, and Systems teams to lead the design and execution of the hospital’s first electronic specimen collections workflow that enabled positive patient identification, reducing duplicate procedures and increasing patient safety.
