Counselor - Transitions Program
Current- Plan and facilitate life skills and community-based instruction (CBI) for eight (8) young adults, aged 18-22, with Autism Spectrum Disorder in coordination with Transitions Program case managers.- Instruct students utilizing a therapeutic milieu and Applied Behavior Analysis (where applicable) to help them work on skills, build rapport with students via frequent opportunities for informal and formal social interaction at school and out in community.- Ensure students are able to access, and participate with, various community resources by safely transporting students off-site.- Encourage students to build confidence and independence in their educational programming via scaffolded support that begins with frequent direct instruction and intervention until fading with less intervention; ideally allowing students to complete tasks and lessons with no direct intervention (e.g. shop for groceries at supermarket.- Research and contact prospective volunteer/internship/job sites for students to access in coordination with Transitions Program case managers.- Ensure that students engage in safe and positive social interactions with their peers utilzing a Positive Behavior Intervention & Support (PBIS) framework
