Acted as Senior Engineer / Solution Architect for media reporting data warehousing project. Worked with client development teams to advise on master data management and taxonomy requirements, and developed a dynamic SQL framework for ELT through the clients' existing Bronze-Silver-Gold Redshift database architecture.Refactored internal brownfield project using Apache Airflow running on Google Cloud Platform. Worked to migrate existing code from Airflow Version 1 to Version 2; refactored existing DAG code to move processing out of Airflow instance and into dedicated systems (e.g. moving pandas transforms to Google BigQuery).

This involved commercial and techincal oversight over the company's Datorama instance, on which I led a full product redevelopment to create revenue and operational optimisations, in addition to certifying Dentsu as a Datorama Implementation Partner. Led data warehouse and web scraping development for a greenfield competitor monitoring project using SQL Server and Dexi. Designed flexible web scraping routines within Dexi's managed service using Javascript to restructure content into easily parsed elements, or where possible calling front-end APIs to retrieve JSON/XML responses to collect directly. Led use of SQL Server Data Tools for version controlled SQL Server schema development in legacy Teams Foundation Server.Developed data solutions in GCP using Google BigQuery for ETL activities, Google Cloud Functions / Cloud Run to host API wrappers using FastAPI. Worked towards deployment automation for Datorama using Python.

My groups generally ranged from 8-12 students. In my seminars, I preferred to explore alternative presentation methods from the standard powerpoint presentations, and as such made extensive use of Open Source Software tools as teaching aids such as Freemind, a mind mapping program. I received positive feedback from my students and the department year on year.

I was tasked with transcribing literary documents into XML for a large scale corpus linguistics project (the 'Spatial Humanities' project headed by Professor Ian Gregory in the Department of History). After transcribing a number of book length texts for the project, I was later responsible for validating my own and others' work to ensure the transcriptions conformed to the requisite tagging hierarchies. As a result of this work, I developed a good working knowledge of XML and .dtd, and found plenty of opportunity to practice saving time with Bash scripting and regular expressions.
