In this position my role is to provide program support and organizational development services through developing funding from sources including grants, bequests, donations, enforcement actions, membership, fee for service, and others to support a new program for Dry Creek Conservancy called the Valley Foothill Watersheds Collaborative (VFWC). As part of this role my responsibilities are to expand the existing marketing plan for the VFWC and implement outreach, facilitate stakeholder processes including participating in regional processes which include American Basin Council of Watersheds, nonprofit partners, and VFWC stakeholder groups and assist in transitioning VFWC to an independent nonprofit organization including recruiting steering committee members, potential board members, and sponsors as well as develop orientation and leadership materials and succession planning.

Teaching Introduction to Environmental Science and/or Critical Thinking in the the Environmental Studies Program. This program can help students use the resources of the entire University to gain an interdisciplinary understanding of such increasingly serious issues as pollution, wildlife and wilderness preservation, land use, biodiversity loss, resource depletion, energy conservation, and a generally healthful relationship between nature and society. The program offers both a major and a minor and also assists students in constructing special majors and identifying programs and individual courses in various departments that concern themselves with environmental questions.The major is designed to help students understand environmental issues in their political, social, and scientific context. Because dealing with environmental issues requires an interdisciplinary approach, we emphasize the development of strong writing, research, and quantitative skills and a broad liberal arts perspective. Advisers will help the student majoring in Environmental Studies to select a minor from another department.Environmental Studies students find work primarily in research, analysis, and enforcement activities in state, federal, and local governments. Others work for nonprofit organizations such as The Nature Conservancy, Audubon Society, and Sierra Club. Some work as consultants to private firms, and some graduates become teachers in primary schools, secondary schools and universities. A few have created their own careers in such areas as organic farming, managing cooperatives, and social action.Environmental Studies students often go on to professional and graduate schools in such fields as law, ecology, engineering, journalism, economics, public health, political science, public administration, special education, environmental policy, and human ecology.

Managing CPSC’s day-to-day operations and assists the Executive Director with organizational development and fundraising. Skills include in-depth knowledge experience and success in sustainability, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), non-profit management, legislative process, public policy issues and fundraising. Duties include: 1. Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of grant and special projects to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished on time and budget.2. Develops and maintains relationships with new and existing CPSC Associates, Partners, and other funders.3. Develops, creates, and coordinates production of communications materials and works with the Executive Director on all outreach.4. Conducts recruitment and oversight of volunteers, staff and contractors; and special events planning.

Provide assistance to jurisdictions completing and implementing waste prevention and recycling programs by: reviewing and commenting on local solid waste management documents; conducting assessments of local progress toward meeting the integrated waste management planning and diversion mandates; and helping to resolve problems that may be hindering jurisdictions from meeting the mandates of AB 939.Develop and write Budgets, Scope of Work, Budget Change Proposals, Agenda Items and other documents as needed.Act as coordinator of working groups focused on increasing film diversion and recycling programs in CA. Develop and author articles, response to comments documents and legislative analysis. Provide technical staff expertise as requested by Office of Public Affairs for newspaper, radio and television background interviews and research requests.

Act as coordinator of outreach efforts from CIWMB to Community College Districts, CSU campuses and UC Campuses to encourage use of sustainable building principles and guidelines through conference planning; facilitating meetings and tours; preparing and making presentations; providing resources, sample contract and RFQ language; and researching materials selection, CWM plans and costs issues.
