Craig Noell: Recovering deal junkie & public company CEO enjoying a second career pursuing interests in education, writing, and research. Currently helping Halo Healthy Brands to change the way we purchase food.My thirty year “first career” was characterized by his penchant for identifying and then implementing creative approaches to the complex challenges of business. At Goldman Sachs, Craig founded the Credit Partners unit making structured investments in critical stage companies. Later, he founded Signature Group Holdings making critical stage investments culminating in the 2010 reorganization of Fremont General Corporation (now Signature Group Holdings, Inc. - Nasdaq:RELY). Prior to imploding, Fremont one of the largest subprime mortgage originators with over $10B in assets. The reorganized company emerged from bankruptcy with a substantial net worth and $900 million in Net Operating Loss Tax Carryforwards (NOLs). As CEO, Noell cleaned things up and repositioned the Company to begin growing. Signature is currently operating at a run-rate of over $1 billion. Earlier in his career, Mr. Noell directed the New York and Los Angeles business development teams at Wells Fargo Foothill (“Foothill”) and was involved in numerous complex recapitalizations. During his career, Mr. Noell has also been involved in establishing multiple joint ventures including the acquisition of the loan portfolio of Home Savings of Alaska from the FSLIC, a joint venture to provide specialized financing to the resort industry and two different joint venture relationships in the retail finance and asset disposition arena. Craig holds a Bachelor of Science from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and an Global MBA from Duke University.
