- Invented and headed development a whole new financial information transmission system for smart phones like iPhone, Android phones.- Built this new financial system by open source tools like OpenBSD, PostgreSQL and Unix socket to reduce the maintenance cost.- Improve system performance by 10 times. One server program can serve up to 3,000 concurrent users and whole system now served 20,000 users.- Designed transaction gateway programs for Taiwan’s stocks, futures, and options. Served up to 8 security brokers and integrated 3 different trading protocols and 3 different platforms include Windows, OpenBSD and Linux.- Designed a transmission architecture for Chinatrust App to stream Reuters information and provide personal price alerts by push notification service.- Created and headed a monitoring system for daily operation in colocation data centers and NOC by using Nagios, RRDTool and symon tools.- Integrated bug tracking and project management systems by replacing Bugzilla with Redmine to improve efficiency and security.- Personally authored 10 patent applications, of which 3 are issued in US and 4 in Taiwan.Mentored colleagues to author 10+ patent applications, of which 1 is issued in US and 8 in Taiwan.- Double system performance and reduce the latency of transmission by changing database of realtime information from PostgreSQL to Redis.- Reduce the complexity and maintenance effort of programs by RESTful architecture implemented with Nginx and FastCGI.- Cut down the maintenance cost by transferring some services and programs to Google Compute Engine and build virtual machine image of OpenBSD not provided by Google.- Survey new technologies like cloud computing and big data and propose next technology roadmap like transferring data from PostgreSQL to MongoDB and data mining on customer behavior analysis.
