About Catherine (Cathy) García
Catherine (Cathy) García is a Mobilizing Wealth and Resources for Justice at Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation. Colleagues describe her as "I’ve often found myself at places were the people truly make the company. Cathy is one of those people. There are times of successes, failures and moments that’s are difficult to put in words to describe what a true collaborative space looks like. Collaboration in the tech space often means being thoughtfully prepared, perfectly executed but full of important moments that require adaptability. Working with Cathy was nothing short of extraordinary in collaboration. I’m writing this recommendation with clear examples of what would make her a perfect choice for your next project. In my first example, you can’t recommend Cathy without addressing her fearlessness! I mean it, Cathy does not need to “sell” you anything because she is the person you want in your idea, or product. She is bright, transparent and will not fill you with false promises. I can recall when launching a new product feature, Cathy played an integral role as one of our moderators in testing a learning cohort. Her ability to ask questions that challenged our thinking and kept our end user in mind, helped us prepare for different aspects of our product launch. In another example, we worked together in designing thought provoking webinars and courses that required a very specific skill set and knowledge of the inequality that exists in the public sector. I use the word public because her knowledge is not limited to just philanthropy but her understanding of the systematic failures that exists throughout our government and educational institutions. Cathy took an idea 💡 and brought it to life, designing a curriculum, scripts and full logistical execution as a one woman team to our Elevate program. She did it fearlessly with full transparency of the difficult topics we would cover, breaking down walls and challenging the status quo. Challenging the status quo, something she did for everyone during our time at Resilia. Cathy is a professional, knowledgeable, empathetic and disruptive leader. She’s not here to build something that’s already been done, she’s here to challenge it and make it better for all. You would be lucky to have Cathy in your next project. " and "Cathy was a tremendous asset to a team we shared, that went on to win the StartingBloc Institute for Social Innovation Challenge in Boston (2011). She brings a wealth of knowledge, and her trademark ENERGY everywhere she goes, and I feel fortunate to have worked side by side with her."
