He was assigned to the Core team and I was his mentor. Historically, in my experience, getting an intern has been like getting a free puppy; it can be fun and rewarding but also a lot of work (only to have them leave at the end of the summer). Christopher broke this mold, he was an all-star intern. He delivered an immense amount of business value and ROI. He brought a great can-do attitude and never let the unsexiness of whatever he was doing discourage him. He got along well with the entire team and everyone enjoyed working with him. His code was consistently top-notch. He would sit quietly at his desk and drill on a problem, asking questions only after having spent a reasonable amount of time on it himself, and ask informed questions. While at Angie’s List, Christopher wrote a lot of high-ROI automated tests using ES6, implemented new UIs and fixed problems in Angie’s List’s front-end framework using React and Redux, and, for his coup de grace, implemented a microservice client using the Builder Pattern in Scala (which he had no experience in). I give Mr. Cooper my highest recommendation."

    Left Databricks at the end of 2023 to focus full-time work on Saturn, an open-source rhythm game for specialized arcade hardware, with precise timing and performance constraints.I am a volunteer on the core team of two. I taught myself game dev so I could work on this project.As part of my work, I have:- Reverse-engineered multiple low-level I/O protocols, for handling input and bitbanging LED data.- Handled millisecond-precision cross-thread timing sync between audio, gameplay, and I/O.- Implemented complex gameplay logic based on 240 individual touch panels, working directly with playtesters.- Optimized the game to handle all 240 inputs per frame without excess garbage collection.
