Chris has an extensive career as an agriculture and development professional with over 20 years’ professional experience providing consulting services to businesses and farmer organizations. He has worked as an Agricultural Economist within sugarcane agriculture in both South Africa and Australia for almost 12 years. Chris also worked in International Development as a project manager delivering Australian Government funded economic development programs in the APAC region. He has a strong technical aptitude and has delivered a range of financial and investment models for agribusiness and other projects, as well as various technical studies and assessments for organisations. Chris has conducted baseline economic research in a number of settings in Australia, Africa, the Middle East, Indonesia and India. He has knowledge and experience in various agricultural sector value chain components including farm investment and management, farmers associations, food security strategy, crop planning, transport planning, post-harvest management, and enterprise development planning, amongst others. Some specific areas of his technical experience include:• Supply/value chain analysis (across multiple agricultural sectors)• Strategic planning, compilation of business plans (new and existing businesses)• Crop production planning LP optimization (conducted at a regional level for a major market aggregator)• Survey design, analysis & implementation (various contexts including sugar industry)• Gross margin analysis, enterprise budgets and farm financial & investment planning (mostly sugarcane & vegetable crops – protected and field production, also cacao production proposal)• Economic viability models and feasibility studies for large-scale projects.Chris holds an M.Sc.
