I was responsible for identifying and implementing safety initiatives based on feedback from the facilities manager as well as recording and reporting any adverse events.Helped conceive and deploy loss-prevention procedures by building ZIP code tables that would interface with the manual laser scanners utilized by Load to double check the accuracy of manually-sorted packages so that the loading technician could receive an audio/visual cue when loading a missorted package instead of relying entirely on their memory of the ZIP code exam. Loading errors dropped significantly immediately after this procedure was completed. Left despite the upward mobility to pursue my education after feeling limited and underutilized. Show less

Initially I applied to work in Unload, one of the most physically demanding divisions within the NTX distribution hub. I lost 20 lbs in 3 months of working there. The pay, union representation, and benefits all made this job an enormous improvement over previous customer service-related positions. Eventually, I took the ZIP codes exam and expanded my sphere of operations to include Load and Sort so that I might work different shifts to improve flexibility and income.
