Secondment at the Institute for Data Science,Engineering and Analytics, TH Köln, to work on optimal and autonomous scheduling of ground station observations for space tracking.The general aim of the project was to contribute toward an augmented autonomy, efficiency and safety in the space sector.The output is a modular approach which couples a Structured-Chromosome Evolutionary Algorithm optimiser with an Unscented Kalman Filter for generating cost-effective tracking schedules given a generic ground station networks, possible observation models, errors and associated costs.This approach has been applied to the tracking of a LEO satellite, and it showed to be optimal for scheduling tracking tasks with different allocated budgets, outperforming classical GAs optimisers.
