Working on stochastic optimal control to develop a novel framework and method for the design of robust space trajectories.

Secondment at the Institute for Data Science,Engineering and Analytics, TH Köln, to work on optimal and autonomous scheduling of ground station observations for space tracking.The general aim of the project was to contribute toward an augmented autonomy, efficiency and safety in the space sector.The output is a modular approach which couples a Structured-Chromosome Evolutionary Algorithm optimiser with an Unscented Kalman Filter for generating cost-effective tracking schedules given a generic ground station networks, possible observation models, errors and associated costs.This approach has been applied to the tracking of a LEO satellite, and it showed to be optimal for scheduling tracking tasks with different allocated budgets, outperforming classical GAs optimisers.

Development and implementation of a numerical optimization tool for generic optimal control problems. Specific adaptation and application for high-fidelity low-thrust trajectory optimization.

Development and implementation of a novel shaping method based on Hill parameters for preliminary low-thrust trajectory optimization. Performance assessed in comparison with existing methods as spherical and pseudo-equinoctial shaping on several test cases.
