Executive leader for risk teams (UW, Analytics, Loss Control, Premium Audit) and underwriting strategy as well as service and operations team for ~$500MM division of Markel Specialty focused nationally on: specialty segments (human services, schools, sports and fitness, medical transportation, financial professionals, youth recreation and more), small business workers compensation, BOP and Miscellaneous Professional. Delivered historically strong workers compensation results in each of the six years from 2013-2018, delivering sub 90 combined ratios each year during this time and underwriting profits in all years since assuming leadership for in 2011. During the same time period premiums grew ~35%. Lead MSC teams in delivering the overall book from combined ratios in excess of 100% to an underwriting profit in 2016 and each year after, improved the movement of the % of aggregate premium coming from unprofitable to profitable segments while working with teams in developing and executing on focused turnaround plans, rolling out target product refreshes, developing multiple new product offerings and re-examining accumulation and mix management targets.
