Engine Calibrator for 3.5L EcoBoost programs including F150, Raptor, Expedition and Navigator. Lead Engineer for new 18MY Expedition and Navigator launch programs. Responsibilities included development and validation of vehicle and powertrain control calibrations to improve fuel economy, drivability, performance, emissions, and diagnostics. Specifically responsible for the following calibration controls and vehicle integration features; spark/knock control, adaptive cruise control, engine/exhaust temperature modeling, active grille shutters, idle/stall control and failure mode diagnostics/OBD. Responsibilities also extended to support hybrid vehicle programs. Conducted development testing and validation in Arizona, Colorado, and Canada, as well as locally in performance dynamometer test cells. Organized, managed and released calibrations to support additional product development teams and new product builds at plants. Supported program diagnostic and issue resolution for powertrain related issues from development through production launch. Supported engine hardware durability teams cost reduction and optimization efforts.

Coordinated calibration and testing efforts for engine dynamometer test cells. Developed project timelines and managed technicians and resources to meet project goals. Reported project status and calibration updates to management and appropriate vehicle teams. Responsible for diagnosing and actively solving issues relating to engine systems hardware and software. Supported engine hardware and powertrain systems development, validation and field investigations. Supported vehicle integration team during calibration development trips. Spark Technical lead and Thermal Modeling Technical lead for groups focused on improvement of respective engine methodology. Responsible for continual improvement of calibration procedures and processes.

Greater St. Louis Area

Built Formula One race car for senior capstone project and FSAE competition. Responsibilities for the project included gearing, engine systems and tuning, impact attenuator design, emergency braking, manufacturing, hardware and fasteners, and overall cost/design report.

Cleveland, Oh

Tasked to develop analytical models for potential Stirling fission power systems (FPS) and components. Performed heat transfer analysis to support feasibility of FPS. Analysis contributed to, “A Small Fission Power System with Stirling Power Conversion for NASA Science Missions” by mentor, Lee Mason, a paper submitted to the Nuclear and Emerging Technologies for Space (NETS 2011) conference.
