I support all things POS at Nordstrom. This includes over 10K registers across 370+ stores. I support the software that runs on and supports these devices handling checkout and returns functionality.

Support ~ 30-person engineering team (engineers, analysis, program managers & engineering managers) that provide full stack development and support of a mission critical, multi-billion dollar order management system. This team’s responsibilities include supporting a fleet of on premise VMware Linux Machines running the Sterling Order Management system in addition to numerous custom built Java applications. In May 2021, I also took over support for a modern stack team that was building an home-grown, event-based order management solution. This solution consists of approximately 30 services written in Java and Go and lives both in AWS and GCP. DBs include Spanner, Dynamo. In Sept 2021 I took over support for both the legacy and modern order management organizations with a peak staff of over 45. In January 2022, the legacy system was deprecated and I support approximately 28 engineers and TPMs (dotted line).

In addition to the order management squad of approximately 13 engineers, technical program manager and engineering managers, I support a squad of 8 supporting our ‘Store Orders’ program where customers can place orders for items not immediately on hand to be shipped to or made available for pickup at another Nordstrom location. I also support a squad of 5 on the software side of the Nordstrom Restaurant Point of Sale, which is used by all our restaurant concepts, including our ‘E-bars’ and ‘Milk Bars’.

Built a full stack dev team from scratch to provide enhancements and production support for this mission critical, multi-billion dollar sales funnel. This team’s responsibilities include numerous customer-facing web pages and backend systems written in .Net, running on AWS.

This organization is comprised of 3 teams that provide these services for the larger Nordstrom eCommerce (Nordstrom.com) team:* Secure Sustained Engineering (SSE): The SSE team is responsible for building and deploying AWS based CI/CD pipeplines for the nordstrom.com secure set of solutions. Other solutions supported by this team include a AWS-based ChangeLog API & UI to capture and route change records to ServiceNow. Release Services: The “RS” team manages all aspects of Nordstrom.com web site releases & patching (40+ per year), coordinating complex testing and implementation involving 20+ teams via a standard release cadence and set of processes. This team also supports branching and deployment of code in all test and production environments. * Environment Services: The “ES” team provides incident and problem management support for 17 lower environments as well as providing initial technical troubleshooting and resolution of issues and/or engagement of engineering teams for more complex problems. * Release Automation Engineering: The “RAE” team builds and maintains release automation pipelines for the Nordstrom eCommerce organization. Pipelines ran on premises and on AWS. Tools/Platforms: Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, GIT, TFS 2010/2013, Jenkins Enterprise, MSBuild, MSTest, Selenium, LoadRunner, PowerShell, Chef, Bash, Groovy, Shell, SCOM, Misc. AWS Tools and many others in a mostly custom .Net/SQL Server environment.Accomplishments: *Removed $3.9M in Waste & reduced cycle time by 25% in release process* Integrated F5 and SCOM automation into existing release/deployment automation framework.

Responsible for day-to-day planning, management, and control of the project as well as ensuring the timely and quality release of projects. Projects managed primarily focused on additions and changes of the web site as well as some development of in-house client/server applications. Worked with business sponsors at all levels of management as well as the development managers to build project teams, schedule and budgets.

Created and managed the Contact Center for the Seattle based Internet startup Food.com. At peak operation, there were 25 employees and 3 supervisors in a 24x7 operation. This department answered service inquiries by phone, fax and email regarding order status and web site navigation. This role included HR responsibilities.
