My Spring of 2014 course load includes: Classroom Management I, Classroom Management II, Administration for Early Childhood, Science Methods for Elementary School and Middle School. I coordinate the Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education Program, including advising, scheduling, and mentoring teacher preparation candidates. During this year, I have worked to write an initial document to the Educational Professional Standards Board (EPSB) for Kentucky to get a Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood Education approved for the college, and have been helping other department members revise and edit our five-year EPSB program review documents. I also serve as Vice Chairperson of the Campus Curriculum Development Committee.

Responsibilities: I taught Pre-Kindergarten Head Start where I oversaw the instruction, supervision, and care for 20 students. I planned, implemented and evaluated lessons in reading, math, science, and social studies. I was a cooperating teacher for student teachers from the University of Pittsburgh. I also served as part of a team of teachers that developed a hands-on science curriculum for the program teachers to utilize.

I supported the Center Director in all financial decisions, operations and staffing issues for a center with a full time enrollment of 176 children. The center reached $1,875,000.00 in revenue for the 2008 fiscal year. My responsibilities included staffing (hiring, scheduling, supervising, developing) and financial management (deposits, payroll, managing overhead and expenses). I have successfully implemented email communication between teachers, parents and management to help with customer service, revamped all of the students’ record files, and improved the quality of instruction through professional development.

Responsibilities: Planning and implantation of lessons for Inter-city students K-8th grade,involving hands-on science labs along with basic art techniques. I have also taught 1st and 3rd, Pre-K Head Start and K-8 art/ science preparation period. I successfully implemented classroom management techniques that worked to maximize time on task, resulting in a 35% increase overall on the Pennsylvania State Standards Assessment (PSSA) mathematics test for my third graders and a 21% increase on the PSSA reading test. Along with working in my own classroom, I functioned as a mentor to five new teachers to our school to help them become more successful. I was a co-operative teacher for student teachers from Temple University.
