Technical accounting oversight - audit, internal controls, and other accounting functions

The Milk Control Bureau works on behalf of the State of Montana Board of Milk Control to regulate Montana's milk market, primarily through regulation of producer prices and compensation. My duties involved managing bureau processes, staff, and finances; providing direct service to the board; and being knowledgeable of statutes and administrative rules pertaining to milk market regulation and bureau operations. Under my leadership, the bureau experienced transformation. This was achieved through focus on building confidence in the operations of the bureau, providing service to the Board of Milk Control to enable it to function at a higher level, and enhancing the transparency of Montana’s regulated milk market. Processes were designed or enhanced that affected nearly every aspect of the bureau’s operations. I worked with the Board of Milk Control and legal counsel to implement enacted statutes and review, synchronize, and consolidate all milk control administrative rules into a single chapter. In 2017, the board commissioned a milk market regulation study, the first of its kind for Montana. I shepherded the project from request for proposal, to signed contract, to board acceptance of the final report in 2018.
