About Chad L.

Hello! Thanks for visiting my LinkedIn profile. If you are looking for an experienced AI engineering leader, please read more below.I lead our AI Department in three major areas to develop vision AI for embedded applications in vehicles, robots, and rocket engine manufacturing. First, I am a technical architect and product owner for AI and Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) projects. Second, I lead new business development providing AI solution demonstrations and proposals for customers. Finally, I serve as the functional manager and department head of the AI engineering team. When I started my career in vision AI, our AI Department did not exist, and we were a group of smart engineers building AI prototypes for object detection and path planning. Our business unit needed a more mature AI development process that could support multiple customers and research and development (R&D) projects. To meet this need, I led the end-to-end development of our MLOps tool pipeline. At the start of the project, my R&D program manager instructed me to “build MLOps” as the requirements definition for an end-to-end, full motion video MLOps product. Using Agile principles within the Scrum framework, the team and I derived requirements amidst great ambiguity to deploy a 14-stage MLOps pipeline. Our final tech stack included multiple open-source and industry standard tools to integrate MLOps, development, security, and operations (DevSecOps), and a Kubernetes cluster on NVIDIA hardware as infrastructure. Along the way, I also hired and onboarded an entire data labeling team and engineers across multiple disciplines. This team maintains and uses the MLOps pipeline to execute customer AI projects and generate revenue for the business unit.Since we finished this MLOps pipeline product, my business development contributions directly led to two new AI project awards. Furthermore, this successful MLOps development serves as a foundational capability for our business unit’s future growth. In the last year, 2/3 of all new business opportunities require our MLOps and AI development capability. Overall, the team and I now support 7 total projects, or use cases, across multiple vehicle, robotic, and rocket engine manufacturing applications. In the future, I am interested in roles leading AI teams to solve challenging and exciting AI problems with increasing technical and program leadership responsibilities. Please connect on here or send me an email at cwlong@okstate.edu if you think my experience and skills match one of your roles. Thank you for your time and consideration!
