In this role, I was responsible for the overall design of all products produced at Journal Multimedia’s Harrisburg, Lehigh Valley and New Jersey locations. Responsibilities included management of design teams, creative and art direction, schedule coordination, meeting established deadlines, printing procurement, managing printer relationships, printer invoice approval, developing and adhering to budgets. This role also designed publications, marketing material, e-blast, print/digital advertising along with the Harrisburg design team and coordinated with the various business units to keep on track with existing products and launching new products with the goal that the publications or digital materials are delivered to the subscribers satisfying our obligation to our advertisers and clients. Additional responsibilities also included maintaining customer relations and contract preparation for the custom publishing division. I evaluated production processes at two newly acquired publishing companies. Worked with Design Managers at acquired facilities to implement corporate production procedures establishing a consistent process at all Journal Multimedia facilities. Maintained consistent communication going forward with Design Managers and staffs. Oversaw redesign process and committee when redesigning all host publications. Managed the IT staff to ensure that the day to day operation of the digital systems meet the needs of the end user. Worked with the System Administrator to plan IT needs and budget allocations that are required for updates, upgrades and future growth. Oversaw the digital integration of new technologies for all facilities. Lead a team to develop/maintain disaster recovery plan for each facility.

This was a new role developed to launch an in-house design department. Within one month of hire, the department was equipped and fully functional. The goal of the department was to bring the materials produced by the advertising agency and other suppliers in-house to reduce the graphic design and printing cost across the organization. Responsibilities and projects included weekly in-house newsletters, quarterly community newsletter, billboards, print advertising, stationary, brochures, guides, event marketing materials, art direction during new website design, print procurement, and internal/external customer service.

This role was part of a three person creative team for a variety of clients including Tootsie Roll, Hasbro, Mattel, GI JOE, Charlie Brown (Charles Shultz), Betty Boop, Hershey Chocolate and Pfaltzgraff. Responsibilities included design of packaging, displays, billboards, stationary and marketing materials.
